What is pin trading?
Pin trading started with the Mellinium Celebration and the idea came when a group
of Disney people went to the 1996 Olympics in Salt Lake City.It was supposed to be a one year program and last only for the Mellinium
Celebration but was highly successful and continues to this day.
Cast member trading
Cast members must trade you any pin
on their lanyard as long as your pin is not already on their lanyard.
Cast members start out the day with 12 pins and they sign out
their lanyard for the day.
Cast members are not REQUIRED to participate in pin trading but many of them enjoy doing it and you'll
see many, many cast members in the parks and resorts trading pins.
Cast members are not allowed to trade thier own pins in the parks.
Only pincs that belong to Disney.
Lanyards
Most cast member lanyards are Blue.
There are also Green lanyards that are
for children only. Children can trade off of Green or Blue lanyards but adults can only trade off of Blue lanyards.
Types of
pins

Tips for beginner pin traders
Pick a character, Holiday,
attraction, resort, etc. and try to collect all of the pins from that genre.Otherwise, it can be very overewhelming to try to collect
every pin that you see that you like.
Pick up a lot of pins, even if they're not necessarilty pins that you want, so that you can trade
for pins that you do want.Ebay is a good place to get a lot of pins for a good price.Just make sure you buy them from a reputable
source.
Cast Member Pin Trading Etiquette
Remember-There is a face connected to that lanyard
Let the Cast Member bring the
lanyard to you.
DON'T grab a Cast Member's lanyard.
Be polite and civil.
