according to pin pics I have 152, but I haven't updated since mousefest, so I think I managed to score a few more My pinpics name is candleonthewater, if anyone wants to check out my stash. Do you have a pinpics account rae? Oh BTW, let me know what states you are missing and I'll hunt for you when I'm in the parks- its always fun to help out a fellow pin trader and aatmouseketeer!

Speaking of the amount of pins people have....I thought you might find these 2 pictures very interesting. I had the distinct pleasure of hanging with John Corigliano from the Mousetimes podcast on Monday and all I'll say is that it was hilarious everytime someone stopped to take a picture with him. Have a look..... .jpg) .jpg) This is John's "Stitch vest" which evidently has 275 pins and weighs somewhere between 17 and 18 pounds. He actually purchased locking pin backs for each and every pin on the vest so that he doesn't have to worry about them falling off. Now THAT is what I'm afraid I'm getting myself into with my rapidly increasing interest in pin trading...hahaha.

I'm definitely getting hooked on the pin craze. When I was in Epcot lasrt weekend I saw a man there with a bunch of traders out and he had one that was basically the word "Cheshire" and the letters were colored like the Cheshire cat and the "C" was shaped like a cat's tail.Anyway...I offered a trade but he didn't want to trade for any of the ones I had. (This wasn't a cast member by the way). And for a brief moment I considered offering him a sum of money to buy it from him.I don't like where this addiction seems to be leading me...LOL

I was hooked for awhile, but I've been trying to cut back on the obsession. Before my last trip, I went thru and picked out my duplicates and least favorites, and took those to trade with CMs instead of buying pins.

I don't have any least faves. I have been doing so well on collecting the cast lanyards. I pick up my traders at the premier stores cheap.

I'm thinking about putting together a package for the kids on the next family trip (next year). The usual stuff, kid guides and such, but thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to put a lanyard and pin in there as well.
Any advice for a newbie? Like "stay away"! LOL

One pin will not be enough. Once you start you can stop. Like eating chips. But it is fun and we have met a lot of people trading pins. Do not buy the ones you want to use for trading. You will never trade it. And if you have a premier store near you or a Disney store near you, my suggestion is but the ones you would not keep to use for traders. and buy so many at a time, and slowly build up enough to have for your entire trip. I will sware by doing it that way. If you wait to buy pins in the parks it's going to get expensive really fast. Hit up the stores first.

Another question, are there authentic v. non-authentic pins? I thought I heard something about looking for a certain logo of sorts on the back of the pin? Or am I way off base here.... Thanks!

There is a fake Disney pin out there. and It is made way different. I will look at mine and And see if I can post a picture. It is a lighter pin in weight. And the quality is not as good. And if you get one and do not realize it and trade it with a Cm they will destroy it.

I have around 300 pins. Been collecting for years. Always buy a lot of pins off Ebay and then go and trade them in the parks. I love to pin trade when u start it is hard to stop ha ha I have started buy picture frames and putting my pins in a certain theme and then putting them in the frame and then on to the wall they go! It is quite fun to Frame your pins it reminds me of where and when i got the pin and sometime what pin i had to give up to get that pin!
